8 Pieces Of Technology That Can Skyrocket Your Productivity & How To Benefit From Them

In our quest to boost productivity through pieces of technology, we’ve gathered insights from eight professionals, including CTOs and CEOs, who share the tools that have revolutionized their working lives. From embracing voice-activated virtual assistants to minimizing distractions using AppBlock, discover the diverse tech recommendations that could elevate your efficiency.

1. Embrace Voice-Activated Virtual Assistants

Adopting a voice-activated virtual assistant is one technological innovation that significantly enhanced my productivity. This tool goes beyond traditional productivity apps, allowing me to manage tasks, schedule appointments, and draft emails using voice commands. Its natural language processing capabilities make interactions seamless, saving time and reducing the need for manual input.

Others can benefit from this technology by incorporating it into their daily routines. Whether you’re a busy professional, entrepreneur, or anyone managing a hectic schedule, a voice-activated virtual assistant streamlines tasks and boosts efficiency. Its hands-free operation is especially advantageous for multitasking, and as the technology advances, its potential productivity applications are vast. Embracing such innovations can revolutionize how people manage their time and accomplish tasks, increasing overall efficiency.

2. Maximize Productivity With Monday.com

Monday.com has been a game-changer for productivity. This platform has allowed me to create bespoke client projects and lead databases. The ability to set up automation then helps keep me on track—notifying me when I should chase a lead, complete a part of the production process, or check in with existing clients.

I’ve been able to customize the automated notifications further so that all the required information and a live link to the project or customer email is delivered directly to my inbox. I’m reminded and given the necessary information upon which to act simultaneously.

3. Enhance Focus With Smartwatch Notifications

My smartwatch has primarily improved my productivity. On the one hand, it helps with personal fitness goals like tracking my steps and hydration goals. On the other, it prevents me from checking my smartphone regularly. My smartphone usage has significantly dropped since I started using these wearable devices. How, you might ask? A significant reason we frequently check our phones is to check for any urgent notifications.

However, often, you receive notifications that you can deal with later. My smartwatch displays any notification immediately and lets me decide whether to pick up my phone. It also enables me to answer calls from the proximity of my wrist. These convenient features ensure I don’t start scrolling through my phone and fall into another spiral, whether it’s social media or some news app. From timers to alarms, it makes my daily life simpler and more distraction-free.

4. Leverage Smartphones For On-The-Go Efficiency

Smartphones are a versatile piece of technology that has significantly enhanced productivity by providing quick access to communication tools, organization apps, and information on the go. They facilitate efficient email management, offer GPS and mapping capabilities, and support task automation.

Additionally, smartphones have powerful cameras for visual documentation, enable mobile payments, and offer various entertainment options. Users should explore relevant apps, stay organized, and manage screen time effectively to benefit.

6. Organize Tasks Effectively With Trello

Trello has changed how I do admin and other busy work in the office. Before that, I had such a hard time getting organized, and as I picked up other tasks, I abandoned the ones I’d worked on before, and it was just a mess that I could never juggle effectively.

This type of organization is helpful because I’m always perfectly aware of where I am in my day or the progress of my tasks. What am I working on right now? What’s still waiting to be done? How many things have I already completed?

It’s way less wasted time and fewer abandoned, forgotten, or half-finished tasks. If I write “send email to vendor” on my list and put the task on the board, it’s there until I do it. It’s impossible to forget.

7. Stay Organized With Todoist App

I’m primarily dependent on my Todoist app for productivity. Not only does it keep my work life organized, but it also helps set personal reminders. I’ve set up two main projects, “Work” and “Personal.” I’ve then created sub-projects to address various aspects of my life.

For instance, I have separate sub-projects for key team members, clients, and business trips under “Work” and various domestic and family-related checklists under “Personal.” From planning my day-to-day at home and at the office to organizing my vacations and significant life events, Todoist is my go-to app to help me stay on track. I’ve recently started using Todoist Teams for collaboration, and I find its features are more helpful than Asana, one of my previous favorite project management apps.

I strongly recommend Todoist to people who struggle with staying organized in their personal or work lives.

8. Minimize Distractions Using AppBlock

I’ve been aware of my social media addiction and how big a hurdle it is to my productivity for a few years. Recently, using AppBlock has proven effective in dealing with this problem. It’s an app I’ve installed on my smartphone that restricts distracting applications, enabling me to focus on my work.

I recommend the “strict mode,” which doesn’t even allow access to the settings, meaning you can’t delete the app or its data, however badly you might want to check your Facebook notifications, continue chatting with a friend on Messenger, or play just one more round of Mortal Kombat.

AppBlock has helped me concentrate more on Slack and email notifications on my phone during work hours. My work laptop is already social media-free, and since I prefer the mobile app experience for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, AppBlock is enough to minimize distractions throughout the workday.
